(1) Properties
Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is a polymer compound formed by the polymerization of vinyl chloride monomer (VCM). Its structural unit is (-CH₂-CHCl-)ₙ, where 'n' represents the degree of polymerization, typically ranging from 590 to 1500. Due to various factors in the polymerization process—such as the polymerization technology, reaction conditions, composition of reactants, and additives—eight different types of PVC resins can be produced, each with varying properties. Based on the vinyl chloride content, PVC resins can be classified into three grades: industrial grade, food grade, and sanitary grade. The appearance of PVC resin is a white powder or fine particles, with an average density of 1.40 g/cm³

(3) Applications
Polyvinyl chloride resin has a wide range of applications and can be used in the production and processing of PVC hard products, soft products, coatings, and adhesives.
General Flexible PVC Products: Extruders can produce soft tubes, cables, and wires. Injection molding machines, combined with various molds, can produce plastic sandals, shoe soles, slippers, toys, and automotive parts.
PVC Film: PVC mixed with additives and plasticized can be calendered by three-roll or four-roll calenders to produce transparent or colored films of specified thickness. Films made this way are called calendered films. They can be cut and heat-sealed into packaging bags, raincoats, tablecloths, curtains, and inflatable toys. Wide-width transparent film can be used for greenhouses, plastic tunnels, and ground cover. Biaxially oriented film, which has heat-shrinkable characteristics, can be used for shrink packaging.
PVC Coated Products: Supported artificial leather is made by coating fabric or paper with a PVC paste followed by plasticization at temperatures above 100°C. Alternatively, a film calendered from PVC and additives can be laminated with a substrate. Unsupported artificial leather is directly calendered into soft sheets of a certain thickness and then embossed. Artificial leather can be used to make suitcases, bags, book covers, sofa upholstery, and car seat cushions. Floor leather is used as paving material for buildings.
PVC Foam Products: When compounding flexible PVC, adding a suitable foaming agent can produce sheets, which are then formed into foam plastics through foaming molding. These can be used for foam slippers, sandals, insoles, and shock-proof cushioning packaging materials. Low-foam hard PVC sheets and profiles can also be extruded, which can be used as substitutes for wood and are considered new building materials.
PVC Transparent Sheets: PVC with added impact modifiers and organotin stabilizers is mixed, plasticized, and calendered into transparent sheets. These sheets can be thermoformed into thin-walled transparent containers or used for vacuum forming packaging, making them excellent packaging and decorative materials, such as mooncake boxes.
PVC Hard Plate and Sheet: PVC with added stabilizers, lubricants, and fillers is compounded and then extruded into various diameters of hard pipes, special-shaped pipes, and corrugated pipes, used as drain pipes, water pipes, wire conduits, or stair handrails. Calendered thin sheets laminated and hot-pressed can form hard sheets of various thicknesses. These sheets can be cut into required shapes and then welded using PVC welding rods with hot air to make various chemical-resistant storage tanks, air ducts, and containers
(4) Product Quality
The product conforms to:
GB/T 5761-2006 "Suspension method general-purpose polyvinyl chloride resin"
GB 4803-1994 "Hygienic standard for polyvinyl chloride resins used for food containers and packaging materials"
The following table details the quality indicators for different types (SG-3, SG-5, SG-7, SG-8) and grades (Superior, First, Qualified) of PVC resin
